CFIB – Canada’s Pension Predicament

November 13, 2011

CFIB is asking the government to pay attention immediately to Canada’s pension system because it is unfair and unsustainable. Given the overly generous public sector pensions and the continued dwindling of a taxpaying workforce to pay for those pensions, Canadians face a very real crisis.

Did you know:

  • Federal public servants pay only 1/3 of their pension costs-taxpayers pay the other 2/3.
  • Early retirement with full pensions and extended benefits only exists in the public sector.
  • Most public sector employees retire around age 60 while 47% of small business owners believe they will only be able to retire after 65.
